Feel Free to Monkey Around

To the layman, diving brings up images of warm waters, white sand, and tropical fish. The commercial diver knows better. Your underwater diving career may require you to dive in cold climates or during winter months when the water is frigid. And regardless of where you dive – even in balmy locations – go deep enough and the water forgets the warmth of the sun. For that reason, you must be familiar with hot water systems … and there is none  better than the Monkey Heater.

The Monkey Heater was developed in 1986 by Divers Academy International graduate Arny Monk. Since then, Monkey Heaters have gained an unbeatable reputation worldwide. Your underwater diving career will not be complete without experience using this excellent system.

The Monkey Heater is a small, light unit that pulls water in, heats it, and disperses it out the other side into a hose. The hose connects to a special hot water suit that has veins running through it similar to those found in an electric blanket. Worn over your regular wet suit, the hot water suit maintains a constant temperature, making open water mixed gas dives and cold water dives possible.

Divers Academy International incorporates training with the Monkey Heater into your coursework. When you graduate, you will be able to launch your underwater diving career in any climate, and will be able to work under any conditions.
