ABOUT ~ History

Divers Academy International was founded in 1977, to meet the high demand for commercial divers in the offshore oil industry and the growing need for divers in the inland harbors and rivers of the world.

The dynamic nature of the industry leads to continual program advances. Remotely operated vehicles and non-destructive Inspectrons programs were added to the curriculum in 1991. Bridge inspection requirements increased in the mid 1990’s, and Divers Academy was the first program to add this to the curriculum. Several certifications have been added to reflect the growing demand for industrial technology such as the American Petroleum Industry Rigging Certification and Hazardous Material Workers Certification. Our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) program now includes Mag Particle and Die Penetrant certifications.

In 2006, to keep pace with the expanding demand for our graduates and our prestigious reputation, Divers Academy International purchased and custom-designed a new modern training complex on a deep water quarry just outside of Atlantic City, NJ.
